
Играть с кем\чем?
This means to play with what or who. This phrase should always be in your mind while you’re working on the IC. It indicates a state of being, the means or instrument by which something is done, and with certain verbs and prepositions.

The means of the instrument:
Я люблю писать красным карандашом. – I like to write with a red pencil.
The agent in passive construction:
Это было написано моими друзьями. – This was written by my friends.
The manner in which something is done:
Она шла быстрым шагом. – She was walking at a rapid pace.
In certain time expressions:
Этой зимой мы обязательно поедем на юг. – This winter we just have to go south.
After certain verbs:
1) Я стану профессором. – I’ll become a professor.
2) Моя мама работает психологом. – My mother is a psychologist.
3) Я считаю его талантливым архитектором. – I consider him a talented architect.
4) Она оказалась художником. – She turned out to be an artist.
5) Тверь кажется большим городом. – Tver seems to be a big city.
6) Оля сейчас занимается русским языком. – Olya is doing her Russian homework now.
7) Мы все пользуемся этим словарём. – We all use this dictionary.
8) Они все интересуются российской политикой. – They are all interested in Russian politics.
9) Господин Табаков руководит большим заводом. – Mr. Tabakov runs a large factory.
10) Я горжусь тобой. – I’m proud of you.
After the verb “быть”:
1) Она была хорошим врачом. – She was a good doctor.
2) Они будут прекрасными специалистами. – They will be great specialists.
In certain constructions:
1) Они часто смеются над нами. – The often laugh at us.
2) Сейчас я работаю над курсовой работой. – I’m working on my term paper now.
3) Мы очень довольны вашей работой. – We are very satisfied with your work.
After certain prepositions, “the instrumental six”:
1) Мы с сестрой живём вместе в общежитии. – My sister and I live together in the dormitory.
2) Обычно я сижу между Олегом и Мариной. – I usually sit between Oleg and Marina.
3) Картина Репина висит над дверью. – The painting by Repin Is handing up over the door[way].
4) Мы живём за этими большими домами. – We live behind those big buildings.
5) Мы оставили пустые бутылки под столом. – We left the empty bottles under the table.
6) Я буду стоять перед мебельным магазином. – I’ll be standing in front of the furniture store.
In certain “connecting” phrases:
1) По сравнению с чем… – In comparison with what…
2) В связи с чем… – In connection with what…
3) В соответствии с чем… – In accordance with what…
