Русский стиль вбирает в себя2 folk traditions and plays with elements of peasant life. Pre-revolutionary aesthetics are Europeanized, and oriented around the lifestyle of the noble and merchant elites of середины XIX — начала XX века3. Визуально она ассоциируется с усадьбами, салонами, фарфором, шелком и бархатом4, но есть и ценностный компонент: modesty, respect for the Orthodox faith, and strong family ties5.
